Gwrwch Castle Investigation 5-7-03

Derwent Paranormal Investigators undertook a further investigation at Gwrych Castle in North Wales on Saturday 5 July 03 with the NWPR (formally the NWOR). Since our last investigation at this location the NWPR have made a great effort to remove some of the rubble from the stairs that has fallen there from years of neglect therefore improving one of the safety aspects of the location.

Arrived on site

20:30

The  two Mediums Shirley and Ted, invited by the NWPR arrived at the location and a tour of the Castle commenced, with the Mediums giving their feelings on the various locations. After about an hour the Mediums completed their work leaving the rest of us to commence our night’s vigil.

Our initial experiment was to monitor with a video camera an upstairs window where, during our last visit, several of us thought we had spotted movement. This of course would have been physically impossible as there is no floor in the room. The footage from this has yet to be analysed.

We videoed a session where Mark Baker of the NWPR read out a poem, which was a favourite of the Countess, who was a former resident of the Castle. This was read in several different locations where people have claimed to have either seen or sensed her.

A video camera was set up in the main corridor filming into what would once have been the nursery. Examination of the video footage has shown no results with the exception of a bat.

In the final recording session of the night, , trigger objects were set up in what used to be the Castle’s strong room. This consisted of several marbles and one coin which was stood up on its edge all placed on an old roof slate. All the items including and slate were then covered in flour to detect any possible movement or prints. At the end of the experiment there was no sign of any movement which in itself is quite amazing as the video camera which was located in the opposite corner of the room has recorded quite a few clicking sounds which we suspect is small pieces of masonry falling from above. Although caught on audio nothing is seen on the video to substantiate this.

During and after the various recording sessions we took the opportunity to visit and photograph various locations both within and outside the Castle. For those of you that are interested in analysing orbs we have managed to capture quite a collection.

Once again we must thank the NWPR for allowing us to join them on their investigation.
